We welcome the EU Commission's intention to simplify and reduce the administrative burden in relation to the implementation of the EUDR and to respond to outstanding open issues and feedback from affected stakeholders.
The revision of the UTP Directive should at any time be evidence-based and targeted towards reaching the main goal of the directive: the improvement of the income of agricultural producers. In our view it is therefore essential to base the revision on the following key aspects: Scope: should be limited to protect small and medium-sized farmers vis-à-vis their first buyers.
