Fibershed works with a global network of over 60 Affiliate communities (fiber and textile producers, processors, manufacturers, designers and wearers) dedicated to building regionally-based natural fiber textile systems that improve ecosystem and community health, cultivating new models for textile economies and culture.

The intention of this proposal for accountability in transparent and trusted labeling claims is laudable.

Source reduction for microplastic fiber derived from synthetic textiles will only be achieved through targeted policies to help address the growing abundance and overconsumption of synthetic textiles. As the Commission acknowledges “voluntary approaches have achieved little to no reduction so far” on microplastic fiber emissions.
