As European federation of glass recyclers, we support the ambitious initiative of the Commission to revise the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive and to opt for a future Regulation. In the document annexed, please find specific comments related to the specific properties of glass and to our capacity to contribute in the development of recyclability criteria for glass packaging.
FERVER is the European federation of glass recyclers. It represents more than 40 members active in the recycling of both flat glass and container glass. These members operate in more than 80 sites in 20 European countries. They manage more than 70 % of the selectively collected container glass in Europe.

FERVER generally welcomes the European Commissions proposal to green-list glass waste (classified under entry B2020), provided that contamination from other waste types does not exceed 10% of the total consignment weight. However, we recommend introducing a distinction between connected and non-connected contaminants in the proposal.
FERVER is the association of European glass recyclers. In FERVER's opinion, some points of the draft might need to be clarified or further explored: Clearer definition on exactly when the Average Loss Rate (ALR) should be used also to avoid disadvantages for facilities reporting real data with higher losses than the ALR.
