We strongly support the objective of increasing circularity as a key driver for EU Competitiveness Compass objectives on competitiveness, decarbonisation, and reduced strategic dependencies.

FEFAC welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the call for evidence for a targeted amendment of the Organic Production Rules. FEFAC supports the EU Commission action aiming at tackling unnecessary complexity in the current regulatory framework.

FEFAC represents the European compound feed & premixes production industry. FEFAC regrets that the EU Commission missed a unique opportunity to propose the PEF method as preferred option for the determination of the environment footprint of goods in a harmonised way.

FEFAC, the European Feed Manufacturers’ Association, is an early supporter of the PEF methodology & harmonisation initiative at European level. FEFAC coordinated the Technical Secretariat on the PEFCR Feed for Food-Producing Animals which was published in April 2018.

FEFAC representing the European manufacturers of premixtures and compound feed for food producing animals would like to welcome the EU Commission initiative to publish a biotech act and would like herewith to share its perspectives.

FEFAC representing the EU premixtures and compound feed industry welcomes the prospect of a biotech 2 proposal. FEFAC wants to stress that, at present, the EU biotech industry as a whole is not exploiting its full market potential, not only regarding innovative substances, but primarily for already existing substances like vitamins or amino-acids for which the demand exists already but exceeds dramatically the EU…

FEFAC, the European association representing Industrial Compound Feed and Premix manufacturers, acknowledges the strategic importance of the legal framework on renewable energy production after 2030. From a general perspective, the feed industry strongly supports enabling a favourable environment for renewable energy production and distribution.

FEFAC welcomes the initiative of the EU Commission to draft a Vision 2040 for Fisheries and Aquaculture. We however, believe that Fisheries and Aquaculture are extremely different sectors, with the latter more comparable to the agriculture / livestock sector. Consistency between the vision for Aquaculture and Agriculture is therefore essential.

FEFAC represents the European compound feed & premix manufacturing sector. Our sector is closely linked to the livestock sector. A waste stream that is currently missing is manure, which is a source of organic phosphorous (CRM). We would recommend to place this on the list.

FEFAC representing the EU manufacturers of feed for food producing animals, including under organic farming conditions, notes that the measure at stake consists in postponing until 31 December 2036 the date of expiration of the current derogation under the same conditions as today, i.e. for young poultry and piglets.

FEFAC representing the EU manufacturers of premixtures and feed for food-producing animals welcomes the initiative of the EU Commission to propose the setting of Occupational Exposure Levels for cobalt compounds for the sake of harmonised rules for enhanced worker protection at the EU level.

FEFAC representing European manufacturers of compound feed and premixtures for food producing animals welcomes in general the proposed amendments to the Annex of the EU Directive on undesirables substances, although with some reservations as regards the relevance and proportionality of the setting of maximum limits for p-phenetidine and the feasibility to reach the new limit proposed for rye ergot by 2026.
