We regret the proposal to classify titanium dioxide as a carcinogen. In our sector, furniture and wood, titanium dioxide is widely used in the paper layer for decoration on plates and laminate flooring. We have the impression that this classification is based on the fact that titanium dioxide gives rise to the formation of dust and that dust may in general be carcinogenic and therefore not typical of titanium…

A European legislative framework for defence procurement should strengthen a safe and secure supply chain. And textiles are crucial in the defence value chain. Not only uniforms and all kind of protective clothing are part of this value chain, also other textile products used in aviation, ballistic, aerospace, composites, logistic, camouflage, are part of this value chain.
Fedustria is the Belgian sectoral federation that defends the interests of the textile, wood and furniture industries, including timber import companies. The fight against illegal logging is vital for the continued existence of our sector. Both Fedustria and its individual members are fully aware of this and, to this end, are taking all necessary steps to fight illegality.
During the first months following the entry into force of the FTA, Fedustria was asked many questions from its members about the origin criterion to be indicated on the proof of origin. The reference to the origin criterion is requested only in the EU-Japan FTA and not in other free trade agreements.
