As an introductory remark, we would like to highlight the importance of foreign direct investment for the EU economy, and in particular for the European services sectors. The EU is the worlds biggest recipient (US$ 11.1 trillion inward stocks 25.2% of global FDI ) of foreign direct investment. According to Eurostat, in 2021, 79.8% of total EU Inward FDI was invested in services sectors .
