FEBA is a network of 351 food banks working to reduce food insecurity by rescuing safe surplus food and supporting nonprofit partners across Europe. FEBA welcomes the proposed Public Procurement Act and the revision of the EU public procurement framework, as these are important tools for advancing sustainable public procurement (SPP) and green public procurement (GPP).
The position of the European Food Banks Federation focuses on support to the most deprived through food and/ or basic material assistance (Article 4.1.(m) of Regulation (EU) 2021/1057 establishing the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), as well as through social integration measures (Article 4.1.(l) of Regulation (EU) 2021/1057).
Over the past 9 years (2014 2022), the Food Banks in Europe, represented by FEBA, distributed a total of 1,321,000 tonnes of FEAD products. Thus, an average amount of 146,777 tonnes of FEAD products were handled by involved FEBA Members annually.
