European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA)

The European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA) welcomes the European Commissions initiative on the Right to Stay Strategy and the possibility of contributing to its call for evidence. For young farmers, the right to stay starts with the opportunity to build a future. Remaining in a territory is not simply a question of emotional attachment to a place.

The European Council of Young Farmers welcomes the European Commission's package on simplifying administrative burden in environmental legislation, particularly the proposal on speeding-up environmental assessments. Regular investments into farm infrastructure are essential to stay up to date with legislative requirements, improve social conditions and economic efficiency, and advance environmental performance.

The lack of certainty surrounding the access to fair and stable incomes is one of the main obstacles to generational renewal in EU agriculture. With this proposal, the European Commission provides some levers to address the asymmetry of information and pressure on prices that impede new generations to make a decent living, hence build viable activities.

Europes young farmers welcome the announcement of the review of the Unfair Trading Practices Directive in the third trimester of 2026 and the opportunity to provide evidence for effective revision. Building on the evaluation report of the Directive published on December 1st, 2025, CEJA highlights the need of binding instruments in the light of continuous power imbalances across value chains.

CEJA welcomes the regulation proposal on cooperation among the enforcement authorities responsible for the enforcement of the UTP Directive published by the European Commission on 10 December 2024 and the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft act.
