The European Anglers Alliance (EAA) is a European NGO for national angling organisations. Our members have in total some 2 million paying angling members. We welcome the Commission's efforts to "develop a single and simple DNSH guidance.." We just want to warn against phrasing, which could undermine existing environmental legislation.

Save the marine environment - engage people Much marine environment protection legislation are in force already including the MSFD, WFD, Birds- and Habitats Directives, Nature Restoration Regulation etc. etc. However, implementation and enforcement are lacking. What we need is more action less paper work. Civil society can deliver some of that if engaged.

Dear DG MARE, Thank you for this opportunity to contribute to the fisheries Omnibus and MAPs discussions. As you know, or should know, we, the European Anglers Alliance (EAA), have for many years criticised the management of EU fisheries for being generally too lenient with regard to the protection of the environment and sustainable use of the fish stocks.

The European Anglers Alliance (EAA) does not agree with the Commission's proposal to delete the 5% rule in the MAPs (Multiannual Plans). The rule is needed to protect fish stocks against overfishing. - We are happy that the European Parliament's plenary voted against (16 January) making use of its 'Urgent Procedure' as requested by the Council.
