ESMIG welcomes the revision of EU public procurement rules and advocates for a differentiated approach to critical infrastructure tenders. This is essential to strengthen Europe's competitiveness, security, and strategic autonomy.

ESMIG, the European association of smart energy solution providers, welcomes the evaluation of the Public Procurement Directives in view of their revision in 2026. This is a key opportunity to take bold actions which will contribute to ensuring fair competition and a level playing field for EU and non-EU competitors in the internal market.

ESMIG members welcome the proposal for a revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) to contribute to the achievement of the EU’s energy and climate objectives for 2030, and the climate neutrality objective for 2050.

ESMIG members welcome the proposal for a revision of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) to achieve a higher level of greenhouse gas reduction by 2030 as well as the European Green Deal initiatives. Energy Efficiency First principle is indeed a key means to decarbonise the energy system. The EED revision represents also an opportunity to improve the enabling framework for energy management.

Please find attached ESMIGs position paper on the revised Cybersecurity Act (CSA). The paper focuses specifically on the proposed trusted ICT supply chain framework, which ESMIG considers of strategic importance for the smart metering and smart grid ecosystem.

We are happy with the current text of the CSA and the support given by ENISA. We find Recital (94) and Article 57 of the CSA very important in order to prevent fragmentation of the market by multiple and different cyber security certification approaches. In combination with the CRA and the use of EUCC it would prevent further fragmentation of the cyber security certification approaches we currently see in Europe,

Global and European organisations, regardless of whether they are part of the governmental sector, critical infrastructure or private businesses, are subjected to an increased number of cybersecurity risks. As stated in the proposal for a Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), global annual cost of cybercrime is estimated at EUR 5.5 trillion in 2021.

ESMIG members would like to share their feedback on the call for evidence on the Cyber Resilience Act.
