Empowered By Us welcomes the publication of the Proposal for a Regulation establishing the European Biotech Act. The structured framework and focus on strengthening health biotechnology capacity in the Union are important steps toward enhancing competitiveness and resilience. At the stage of Commission adoption, we offer three targeted observations to strengthen implementation effectiveness. 1.
Empowered By Us is an independent, patient-led initiative focused on equitable health innovation, rare disease policy, and strategic patient involvement. We welcome the opportunity to contribute to the development of the EU Biotech Act. The Biotech Act must not only support scientific excellence. It must also foster innovation that is accessible, societally meaningful, and system-ready.
