EDP recognizes the importance and fully supports the underlying objectives of the recent amendment to the EU Climate Law, setting a 2040 EU climate target of 90% reduction in net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, compared with 1990, while allowing 5% of international carbon credits as well as EU based permanent carbon removals to compensate for residual hard-to-abate emissions.

EDP welcomes the revision of the Network Code on Requirements for Grid Connection of Generators, recognizing the need to adapt to the evolving European electricity system, which now includes more inverter-based generation, storage, and new grid-connected assets. EDP supports updating the technical framework, provided it ensures proportionality, certainty, and system security.

EDP supports the European Commission (EC) commitment to achieve 90% reduction in net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040, compared with 1990, moving towards a fully decarbonised energy system. The present consultation represents a critical opportunity to ensure that the governance architecture remains effective, credible and investable in delivering these objectives.

EDP supports the European Commission objective to improve the sustainability reporting transparency and credibility for data centers through the proposed delegated regulation on energy efficiency, which includes the development of a common EU rating scheme and the simplification of reporting requirements.
