EDANA, the international association representing nonwovens industry, which includes the producers of critical protective, medical and hygiene products, would like to thank the Commission for the opportunity to provide input to the revised MDR.

EDANA supports the use of public procurement as a strategic tool to encourage the uptake of more sustainable products and materials across the EU internal market. These are just some of the many applications for nonwovens in todays economy.

EDANA developed a Sustainability Vision, giving clear insight into the priority topics on sustainability for our industry. Building Trust, through transparency to consumers and other stakeholders is an essential pillar of this Vision. When making green claims, this transparency allows for reliable and verifiable information on environmental impacts of different products.

In view of the upcoming evaluation of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), EDANA welcomes this process as an opportunity to: Strengthen harmonised implementation across the EU Avoid gold-plating by Member States and preserve the integrity of the Single Market, Ensure regulatory coherence and legal certainty, Support the Commissions simplification and competitiveness agenda.

EDANA, the trade association representing manufacturers of hygiene products, including baby diapers and baby wipes, and other nonwovens-based applications, fully supports the European Commission's objective of protecting children from CMR substances in childcare products.
