What they argued

Circular Economy Actfiled 6 Oct 2025source

The biggest barriers to the recycling of polymers are the access to our market for companies from countries outside the EU. It enters the EU of uncontrolled quality recycled, much cheaper than recycled from European companies. Recycled from Asia does not have the same quality and does not follow the same legal requirements as European recycled.

EU-wide end-of-waste criteria for plastic wastefiled 22 Jan 2026source

Consideration should be given to including polyolefins (in particular PE and PP) in the end-of-waste status provided for in the relevant legislation. Where polyolefins are recycled in the same recycling process as PET, recycled polyolefins have stable technical properties and meet quality requirements (e.g. REACH), enabling their safe and effective use as secondary raw materials in various industrial applications.
