The EU’s 2030 climate target makes it urgent to adapt the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) with regard to the transport sector. This applies to the previous 2030 target of 40 % greenhouse gas reduction and, a fortiori, to a possible higher target of 55 %.

This applies to the previous 2030 target of 40 % greenhouse gas reduction and, a fortiori, to a possible higher target of 55 %. DVF recommendation of measures related to the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED): • enshrine a target of at least 40 % energy efficiency for the EU in 2030.

DVF welcomes the proposal of the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA). DVF fully supports the European Green Deal goals. The transformation of mobility urgently requires clean energy, new propulsion systems, alternative fuels and infrastructure. Global competition for investments in clean technologies is quickly increasing. The EU needs an effective and immediate answer to these challenges.

DVF reaffirms the target of zero emission mobility by 2050. The task of ETS and CORSIA is to give CO2 a price tag, to increase the incentives for low-emission investments and operations, and to offset remaining aviation emissions with effective measures in other sectors. Aviation is a global mode of transport.
