With the European Green Deal and the Strategy on Sustainable and Smart Mobility, the European Commission explicitly supports greening freight transport – for instance by increasing rail freight traffic by 50% by 2030 and doubling it by 2050. It strongly contributes to the EUs economic growth, positioning it as a leading global tourism destination, as well as to connecting people across the continent. DB therefore highly welcomes the European Commissions announcement of an EU Tourism Strategy. Mobility plays a key role in decarbonizing tourism.
Deutsche Bahn shares the European Commission's view that booking train tickets in Europe for passengers should become easier. Thanks to the improvements that DB and many other railways are implementing for passengers in Europe within the CER Ticketing Roadmap, booking international train tickets will become much easier already in 2025.
