Shipping is crucial to the CCUS value chain, as CO2 transport relies heavily on maritime transport. To realise the potential of CCUS and sup-port the green transition, it is essential that the proposed plan ensures a well-functioning internal market for maritime CO2 transport.

The EU's updated Arctic policy should emphasise dialogue and development based on strong engagement with local authorities, Indigenous Peoples and communities in the Arctic. For projects and activities in the region to be viable and sustainable, they must have local support and contribute tangibly to the welfare, resilience and long-term development of Arctic societies.

Danish Shipping is committed to driving a competitive and sustainable transition for international shipping. Recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East demonstrate how quickly disruptions in global energy markets affect maritime transport. Shipping is often the first sector impacted by such developments, particularly through volatile fuel prices and operational disruptions.

Danish Shipping is generally positive about the purpose of ensuring a high and unform level of customer protection among Member States of the Union. The proposal addresses passenger rights in multimodal transport, where multiple modes of transportation are used during one single journey such as a combination of bus, ship, airplane, and railway.

Danish Shipping expresses gratitude to DG MOVE and the European Commission for the opportunity to provide comments on the revision of sustainable transport - revision of Combined Transport Directive. Overall, Danish Shipping urges the EU to continue to be ambitious in ensuring better coordination between modes of transport and an increased use of combined transport solutions.

Danish Shipping is firmly opposed to any changes to the current VAT system for passenger transport. The existing framework is efficient, fair, and neutral for both operators and passengers, accurately reflects economic reality, and aligns with the destination principle as well as EU jurisdiction under international law. Any modification would risk creating unnecessary administrative burdens and market distortions.

Danish Shipping welcomes the European Commissions proposal and calls on the EU Member States and the European Parliament to support the proposed inclusion of the two Indian ship recycling facilities on the European list of ship recycling facilities.
