The Danish Seed Council welcomes the European Commission recent NGT proposal. We need access to ever better plant varieties to adjust to changing climate conditions, to produce seed with less use of input factors (water, fertilizers, pesticides), to produce seed in a more environmentally friendly way, and to remain globally competitive.

What they argued
The Danish Seed Council supports the UPOV convention, and the CPVO principles. We find it timely that the European Commission has launched this survey as the current legislation has proved its value for decades. The current CPVR system creates an incentive for breeders to develop ever better varieties to the benefit of farmers, society, and the environment.
