There are right now fantastic digital tool supporting farmers for improved irrigation. They are private software and public tools (SATIVUM , SIAR) and also sector backed tools such ours C3-SIGCEX. Despite this, even the free access tools lack of uptake due to barriers and digital divide. It compromises them since are also based on farm information retrofeeding.
We welcome the initiative of the EU institutions and Member States to put producers at the centre of the debate on agriculture and livestock farming, the need to improve their position in the value chain and to recognise that the profitability of the primary sector is necessary for the market to function properly.
Spain is a pioneer in this type of legislation to regulate UTPs in the market and ensure its optimal functioning. We support both Spanish legislation and the EU Directive in this regard. Spain is a pioneer in this type of regulation to regulate Unfair Commercial Practices in the market and to ensure that it functions better. The aim of this regulation is to avoid the abuse of some companies over others, especially those of agricultural and livestock producers, in commercial relations through its pioneering food chain law, amended in 2021.
Spain’s Agro-Food Cooperatives generally welcomes the proposal of 28 March amending Regulations (EU) No 1308/2013, (EU) 2021/2115 and (EU) No 251/2014 as regards certain market rules and sectoral support measures in the wine sector and aromatised wine products. We then put forward some changes that would improve the proposal and we attach the assessment of this organisation in a broader document.
