The CGT welcomes the Commission’s intention to present a fair labour mobility package. While freedom of movement for workers within the EU is an essential freedom, ‘it entails the abolition of any discrimination based on nationality between workers of the Member States as regards employment, remuneration and other conditions of work and employment’ (Article 45 (2) TFEU).

The CGT presents two examples setting out the shortcomings of this Directive. First of all, I consider it essential to address the general philosophy of the Directive. The problem is not immigrationbut the pervasive pursuit of profit maximisation. This is the vulnerability of workers which is a source of overexploitation, which is linked to administrative and social precariousness.
