The Marine & costal zones working group of the IUCN French Committee calls for the European Unions 2025 Ocean Pact to be translated into a strong, legally binding European Ocean Act by 2027. While the Ocean Pact represents an important political commitment, we stresses that only a robust legal framework can ensure effective marine conservation, restoration and sustainable use of ocean resources.
