The City of Rotterdams welcomes the preparation of the Circular Economy Act. Rotterdam is embracing the circular economy not just as a necessity, but as an opportunity to innovate, collaborate and lead towards a sustainable society. Therefore the upcoming CEA should not only focus on waste and recycling, but include as well upstream measures that prevent waste generation.

European industrial policy provides clarity on Europes industrial priorities, supports sustainability efforts, and strengthens competitiveness and creates a level playing field within Europe.

The City of Rotterdam welcomes the Commissions initiative for a Fair Labour Mobility Package that strengthens the internal market while ensuring fair and equal labour conditions. In our experience, effective enforcement and consistent application of existing EU rules are essential to achieving these objectives.

Introduction We strongly support the initiative to strengthen the ELA, particularly in its role to combat unfair competition in labour conditions and pay. In Rotterdam, we have observed a growing concern regarding the exploitation of both EU nationals and third-country nationals, particularly in the form of substandard housing conditions driven by the exploitation of regulatory loopholes.

In short: Rotterdam considers the EIF a valuable strategic framework, but believes it should evolve from a high-level source of inspiration into a more operational and actionable framework.
