CIA Agricoltori Italiani, as also expressed in the contribution to the Roadmap on the Climate Act sent on 6 February, supports the objectives of the Paris Agreement to limit heating within 1.5 °C and welcomes the efforts undertaken by the Commission on climate neutrality in 2050. The proposal for a Regulation is ambitious and aims to cover the entire spectrum of sectoral economic activities.

The European agroforestry sector has reduced its GHG emissions by 20 % in the past 30 years and has the potential to further contribute, if properly supported even from funds other than the CAP. European farmers are the first to deal with the consequences of global warming and understand and support the objectives set out in the Paris Agreement to limit heating within 1.5 °C.

We are in favour of authorising the use of a limited percentage of non-organic protein feed in organic pig and poultry production beyond 31 December 2026. CIA and ANABIO-Cia consider that it would be premature to allow the expiry of the current authorisation at the end of 2026.
