It is interesting to be able to use more organic nitrogen fertilisers of animal origin. This may be permitted by exceeding the ceiling of 170 U organic N of animal origin. While taking care to respect the plant’s needs in the strict sense (and thus respecting the balance of nitrogen fertilisation), it is important to maximise the use of organic matter.

The Chambers of Agriculture welcome the European Commission’s initiative to launch a regulatory simplification package specific to the outermost regions (ORs). In these territories, European policies apply in a context marked by structural constraints, recognised by Article 349 TFEU: remoteness, insularity, closeness of markets, dependence on imports, increased exposure to climate and health hazards.

The European Commission’s simplification proposals presented on 14 May include many positive aspects, responding to some of the expectations expressed by French agricultural professionals. In this package, the new conditionality further reconnects the CAP to the realities on the ground.

French Chambers of Agriculture thank the Commission for this proposal, which aims to support the wine sector that is undergoing a period of major crisis. This package of measures directly reflects the recommendations of the High Level Group on Wine Policy, which is a good development. The crisis measures (green harvesting and distillation) introduced are short-term solutions that meet the challenges of the sector.
