The Coalition for Fair Fisheries Arrangements (CFFA) welcomes the proposed amendment of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) as an opportunity to improve the transparency, coherence and sustainability of EU fisheries funding while ensuring compliance with the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies.
CFFA calls for an EU strategy for fisheries external action focused on transparency, social justice, environmental sustainability and the meaningful participation of African artisanal fishing communities, which are the backbone of fisheries in Africa.
