Our society’s economy and survival are both dependent on ecosystem services, which are becoming more threatened every day. The EU natural credit roadmap shows a large funding gap for biodiversity. At the same time, harmful subsidies for bioenergy from high nature value forests contribute to forest degradation and loss of soil carbon sinks.

Whereas compliance with the DNSH principle is significantly neglected and needs to be significantly increased in the next MFF; Activities should be approved/rejected on the basis of whether they involve significant harm (and therefore do not qualify for EU funding) or whether they are expected to have such a limited environmental impact that EU funding can be granted.
