At present, freight transport between two EU Member States is limited to a Maximum Authorised Mass (MTM) of 40 tonnes. In order to improve the environment, climate and economic efficiency, it would be better to align the Maximum Authorised Mass with the tonnages in force in the Member States, namely 44 tonnes. In this way, just over 10 % more goods can be transported on the same journey.
