BACC Bicicleta Club de Catalunya

The Bicycle Club of Catalunya (BACC) welcomes this Call for Evidence and wishes to contribute from the perspective of cycling communities and active mobility users across Catalonia. We begin by recognising the significant progress made by the European institutions in support of cycling as a fully-fledged mode of transport.

As a cyclist organisation, we salute the purpose of this Directive. In order to reduce externalities caused in urban environments caused by last mile delivery, in a context of growing online commerce, we believe the scope of the Combined Transport Directive should explicitly include the "last mile" infrastructure required to shift modal share from vans and trucks to lighter vehicles (cycles such as cargo bikes…

As one of the largest European cyclist organisation with around 1,000 members, the BACC Bicicleta Club de Catalunya would like to highlight, for the purpose of the CEF2 program, the immense possibilities attached to bicycles, including cargo bikes, for short range personal and goods transportation.

BACC Bicicleta Club de Catalunya welcomes these proposals' aim of enabling seamless, single-transaction booking across rail operators and modes. The European Declaration on Cycling (C/2024/2377), jointly signed by the Parliament, Council and Commission, already compels - under commitment 15 - to secure bicycle parking and integration at mobility hubs.
