ANAV represents private bus and coach operators in Italy. ANAV fully support the transition to cleaner fleets, but adequate conditions are necessary. What we aspect from the new regulation are not new targets for bus and coach operators fleets, but the definition of new enabling conditions for the transition. Bus and coach sector has already very ambitious targets indeed.

What they argued
The ETS 2 should be revised as appropriate. This penalises certain sectors that are already inherently sustainable, such as passenger transport by bus and coach. Travelling by bus is one of the most sustainable modes of transport, even if the vehicle is powered by traditional fuels, as it has significantly lower average emission levels per passenger transported than a private car.
