AEPO-ARTIS POSITION ON THE DIGITAL OMNIBUS AEPO-ARTIS is a non-profit organisation that represents 42 European performers collective management organisations (CMOs) from 30 European countries. The number of performers from the music and audiovisual sectors represented by our members can be estimated at 650.000.

AEPO-ARTIS Submission to the Call for Evidence on the AI Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Sectors Preliminary remarks AI raises significant social and economic challenges, particularly for individual creators. Performers’ exclusive rights must be respected when their performances are used for AI training, requiring authorisation as well as fair remuneration for both input and output.

AEPO-ARTIS welcomes the Commissions combined Call for Evidence and particularly the fact that it aims to collect the information necessary to support the review of the CDSM Directive. With regard to the review of the CDSM Directive, AEPO-ARTIS has serious concerns regarding the quality of the evidence currently being gathered.

AEPO-ARTIS welcomes the opportunity to participate in the European Commissions review of the Digital Decade Policy Programme (DDPP). We express our support for the DDPP, in particular its objectives as set out in Article 3 of Decision 2022/2481 of the Parliament and Council and believe that the call for evidence comes at the right moment.

AEPO-ARTIS is a non-profit making organisation that represents 37 European performers’ collective management organisations from 27 different countries, most of which collect the remuneration addressed by this call for evidence. The number of performers, from the audio and audiovisual sector, represented by our members can be estimated at 650,000.
