A.I.S.E., the detergents sector association representing the European cleaning and maintenance products industry, thanks the European Commission for the opportunity to provide input to the call for evidence on a targeted revision of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices (MDR) and Regulation (EU) 2017/746 on in vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDR). This legislation is relevant to A.I.S.E.

A.I.S.E., the European association for detergents and cleaning products, supports the European Commission efforts to address greenwashing via a legislation on green claims substantiation. A.I.S.E. wishes to highlight some key aspects aimed at further strengthening the proposal.

A.I.S.E. calls for measures that are: • based on sound science and in consideration of impacts across the full life cycle of the product and its packaging; • developed in a consistent and coherent way with existing legislation. A.I.S.E. recommends to consider “Option 1” (ie. update the 2013 recommendation) as a policy option.

Biotechnology plays a vital role in our sector, particularly through white biotechnology and microbial applications, that enhance product performance. A.I.S.E.

A.I.S.E. welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the Biotech Act II call for evidence. The paper outlines our sectors key considerations and recommendations, in particular regarding the need to address feedstock availability, bridge the green premium, avoid overlapping regulatory requirements, and ensure that policy measures remain proportionate and innovation-enabling for downstream users.
