Summary
GeneratedCouncil Directive (EU) 2019/997 establishes a uniform EU Emergency Travel Document (EU ETD) for unrepresented citizens in third countries whose passports are lost, stolen, or unavailable. It sets issuance procedures, validity up to 15 days, and a uniform format. In force since 2019, it applies from 36 months after adoption of technical specifications.
