GeneratedRegulation (EC) No 258/97 requires a single Community safety assessment before novel foods and novel food ingredients may be placed on the EU market. It covers foods not significantly used for human consumption in the Community, including genetically modified foods, foods from microorganisms, fungi or algae, and foods from new production processes.
