The draft EU Space Act rightly seeks to harmonise safety, resilience and sustainability of space activities, yet its scope stops short at orbital and re-entry phases, leaving out the most sought after geopolitical trophy, and energy critical domain: the MOON.

The Spanish space industry strongly supports the objectives of the proposed EU Space Act to establish a coherent, secure, resilient, and sustainable framework for space activities in Europe. However, the current draft might present significant challenges in terms of complexity, legal clarity, administrative burden, and implementation feasibility.
The Government of Catalonia has agreed on an influence strategy regarding the EU Space Act to highlight the role of regions in this sector, among other goals, to promote the Catalan space ecosystem and the adoption of products and services based on the benefit of space technologies across all areas of Catalan society.

As part of Japanese space sector, we have recognized the efforts to promote sustainable space development under the EU Space Act. Meanwhile, for private space operators from non-EU countries, it is difficult to anticipate the extent of the procedural requirements for obtaining URSO approval in order to contract with EU customers, based on the content currently available at this stage.
In the attached position paper, AIPAS, as the association of Italian space enterprises, while acknowledging the potential positive impact that the EU Space Act could have on the European space sector, outlines the main challenges associated with the current draft of the EUSA.

Space4Climate is a non-commercial UK membership organisation with 90 members from the satellite Earth Observation (EO) community. They are drawn from academia, policy and industry: www.Space4Climate.com. We respect the aims of the EU Space Act but urge consideration to protect the very many successful collaborative relationships between the UK and European space sectors and the future potential of these.
The EAS represents around 6,000 astronomers across the European continent, including in all 27 EU member states. We celebrate the explicit inclusion of light and radio pollution mitigation in Article 72 and Article 73 of the proposed Act.
In summary we welcome the explicit inclusion of the mitigation of light and radio pollution in Articles 72 and 73 of the proposed Act. This reflects the concern of the astronomical community to protect dark and quiet skies.

As President of the Società Astronomica Italiana I express the support of the our Society to the eU Space Act since we firmly believe that the night darkness should be protected by establishing rules on the use of the circumterrestrial orbital space by the companies operating in the growing field of Space Economy.
The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina emphasises the need to enact environmental sustainability as one of the guiding principles of the EU Space Act. This principle is necessary to regulate risks associated with the re-entry of satellites and rockets, especially the injection of anthropogenic material into the atmosphere.

In parallel, research on the environmental impact of space and the development of new sustainable technologies should be further pursued. Start-ups and SMEs shape the New Space market. The Malta Sociological Association welcomes this initiative, particularly with respect to the inclusion of impact assessment. In this regard, we believe that that Social Impact Assessments (SIAs) should be incorporated and mainstream in this policy process. SIAs should not be one-off exercises.

I congratulate you. I agree with the need for initiative. In my opinion, it is necessary to define the broader goals of this necessity (expand impact assessments to requirements 1-2-3). Adoption of bilateral and multilateral agreements should be binding for all potential space state agencies - issues of sustainable space activities should be discussed by the public then at the UN level.
