The European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) as proposed by the EU Commission will be the first step and main instrument for the implementation of the European Defence Industrial Strategy (EDIS). As one of the major defence companies in Europe, Rheinmetall and its entities in various EU Member States in the light of our successful single market have an inherent interest in the implementation of EDIP.
We at Optics11 support the European Defence Industrial Strategy (EDIS) and the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP), urging the inclusion of critical infrastructure protection and maritime security as key areas within the EDIP.
Due to war and recent geopolitical tensions worldwide, Europes security and defence sector is at the forefront of the EUs political agenda. Raw materials are key to produce European defence applications and therefore stable supply chains are required for the military domain. Cobalt plays a fundamental role for the European defence sector.
