There is an urgent need for legislation to promote public procurement “made in Europe”, for defence and security (in particular the police). Urgent because textiles are currently going through a major crisis, and many parts of the eco-system are disappearing. However, textile, like any industry, owes its sovereignty only to this complete and effective ecosystem.

Finance Denmark thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback to the initiaitve Defence Single Market: EU technological base fit for future. The challenges to Europe´s security caused by the recent development in transatlantic relations and the ongoing Russian war of aggression in Ukraine has led to a clear need for Europe to build up its own military capabilities.
The Region of Occitanie welcomes any initiative by the European Commission to strengthen the European defence technological and industrial base, and to encourage risk-taking by making defence contracts more accessible to innovative SMEs.

Airbus is by its nature a pan-European defence company, established to overcome fragmentation in Europe. Therefore, we are already fully aligned with the idea of a European Defence Single Market, and we support this initiative. It has the potential to stimulate growth and investment in the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB) while reducing costs and bureaucracy.

The initiative to strengthen the EU defence single market and reduce fragmentation is strongly supported. Enhancing joint procurement, improving interoperability and reinforcing the European defence technological and industrial base are essential steps towards greater strategic autonomy and operational readiness by 2030.
